Middleton didn’t have a chance on Tuesday, as the Verona Wildcats Freshman won in blowout fashion, 10-4 in seven innings at Badger Ridge.

The Verona Wildcats Freshman scored three runs in the sixth on a walk by Brian Karebu and a sacrifice fly by John Van Handel.

Jake Walter was hot from the plate for the Verona Wildcats Freshman. Jake went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

Bradly Laufenberg kept contact to a minimum, striking out 12 Middleton batters. Bradly allowed no earned runs on eight hits and five walks over seven innings.

The top of the first saw Middleton take an early lead, 3-0. Middleton’s rally started when Spitler singled. A single by Smith then moved Spitler from first to third. Jackson Grimm singled, bringing home Spitler. Middleton added more runs when Smith and Brady scored on a two-run triple by Kryshak.

The Verona Wildcats Freshman scored two runs in each of the first, fourth and fifth. In the first, the Verona Wildcats Freshman scored on a two-run single by John Coshun, bringing home Jacob Slonim and Brandon Ellestad.

The Verona Wildcats Freshman added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Nick Pederson started the inning with a single, scoring John Van Handel. That was followed up by Jake’s double, bringing home Max Fink.
