The Verona Wildcats Freshman took the last of four lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against Memorial, securing a 8-5 victory on Saturday.

The Verona Wildcats Freshman pulled out the win thanks to a strong fourth inning. The Verona Wildcats Freshman went up for good on a two-run double by Noah Anderson off Zach Goring, scoring Max Fink and Nick Pederson.

Noah racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Verona Wildcats Freshman.

Jeff Bishop got the win for the Verona Wildcats Freshman despite allowing five runs over seven innings. He struck out four, walked three and surrendered eight hits.

Dorjec couldn’t get it done on the hill for Memorial, taking a loss. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed two runs.

The top of the first saw the Verona Wildcats Freshman take an early lead, 1-0. Noah got things going for the Verona Wildcats Freshman with a single. A stolen base then moved Noah from first to second. Jeff singled, scoring Noah.

Memorial answered the Verona Wildcats Freshman’s top inning with two runs of its own in the first. Memorial scored on an RBI single by Zach and an error.

The Verona Wildcats Freshman went up for good in the fourth scoring five total runs, which came home on an RBI double by Bradly Laufenberg, a fielder’s choice, and an RBI single by Jared Grassman.

The Verona Wildcats Freshman matched their one-run fifth inning with one more in the sixth. In the fifth, the Verona Wildcats Freshman scored on an RBI single by Jeff, plating Jacob Slonim.

Memorial scored one run in the bottom of the fifth to cut its deficit to two. An RBI single by #8 sparked Memorial’s rally. Jeff ended the inning by getting #2 to strike out.
