Verona Area High School Wildcats BaseballBeloit Memorial was never able to get over the hump and get over its troubles against the Verona Area Wildcats Varsity on Tuesday, as Beloit Memorial fell 4-2 at Beloit Telfer Park after falling behind by three runs in the fifth inning.
Beloit Memorial scored one run in the fifth on a groundout by Keegan Mickey. Still, Beloit Memorial couldn’t catch the Verona Area Wildcats Varsity.
Mitch Flora racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Verona Area Wildcats Varsity. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the fifth inning.
The Verona Area Wildcats Varsity got the win thanks in large part to Keaton Knueppel’s dominant, eight-strikeout performance. Keaton allowed one earned run on two hits and five walks over four innings.
Patrick Whalen took the loss for Beloit Memorial. He lasted just 6 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out seven, and allowed four runs.
Verona Area Wildcats Varsity closer John Moynihan put away the final nine outs to record the save.
