The Verona Area Wildcats Varsity lost a hotly contested 6-5 game in seven innings on Saturday at Stampfl Field after surrending the lead in the seventh inning.

The Verona Area Wildcats Varsity’s Mitch Flora was perfect at the dish, going 2-2. He singled in the fourth and sixth innings.

Even though Adam Bihun allowed five runs over seven innings he still recorded the victory. Adam struck out two, walked four and gave up nine hits.

Jake Toman was charged with the loss. He lasted just one inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed four runs.

The bottom of the first saw the Verona Area Wildcats Varsity take an early lead, 1-0. Ben Rortvedt kicked things off for the Verona Area Wildcats Varsity with a single.

The Verona Area Wildcats Varsity survived Madison Memorial’s surge and put up two runs of their own in the fourth. The Verona Area Wildcats Varsity scored on an RBI double by Connor Volker and an RBI single by Mitch.

Madison Memorial went up for good in the seventh, scoring four runs on an RBI double by Nick Newburg, an error, a groundout by Paul Koebke Barsic, and an RBI single by Mike Roth.
