Verona Area High School Wildcats BaseballGaelan Combs did his best to change the outcome, but Combs couldn’t guide the Verona Wildcats JV past Oregon as the Verona Wildcats JV lost 3-2 in seven innings at 5th Quarter, VLL on Friday.

Combs was a workhorse on the rubber for the Verona Wildcats JV. Combs pitched seven innings and allowed three earned runs, seven hits and two walks while striking out four.

Oregon was sparked by #6 and #11, who teamed up for four hits and three RBIs.

Combs was the game’s losing pitcher.

Oregon didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring three runs in the third inning when it scored on a three-run home run by #11.

The Verona Wildcats JV scored one run in the third inning, and then followed it up with one more in the fifth. In the third, the Verona Wildcats JV scored on a steal of home, scoring Tucker Teskey.

An RBI single by Combs gave the Verona Wildcats JV life. Finally, #11 got Combs to to end the threat.

Verona Area High School Wildcats BaseballThe Verona Wildcats JV wound up on the wrong side of a 11-0 score on Tuesday at 5th Quarter, VLL, tasting defeat at the hands of Sun Prairie .

#20, #25, #11 and #10 helped lead Sun Prairie . They combined for six hits and six RBIs.

Brandon Ellestad couldn’t get it done on the mound for the Verona Wildcats JV, taking a loss. He allowed 11 runs in five innings, walked six and struck out one.

The game was never in doubt after the first, as Sun Prairie scored four runs on a fielder’s choice and two singles.

Sun Prairie tacked on another two runs in the second. The inning looked promising, as #25 doubled, plating #9 to kick things off. That was followed up by #12’s single.

Verona Area High School Wildcats BaseballThe Verona Wildcats JV outlasted East on Monday after five lead changes, squeaking out a 3-2 win at Kelliher Field.

The Verona Wildcats JV finally managed to grab the lead after a strong eighth inning. A fielder’s choice and gave the Verona Wildcats JV the lead for good.

Jake Lee looked sharp on the rubber. East managed just two hits off of Lee, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out one during his four innings of work.

The Verona Wildcats JV jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second. The Verona Wildcats JV’s threat began with a single by Connor McGowan.

After a quick strike from the Verona Wildcats JV, East responded with one run in the second. East scored on a fielder’s choice.

The Verona Wildcats JV scored one run in the third inning, and then followed it up with one more in the eighth. In the third, the Verona Wildcats JV scored on an RBI single by McGowan, scoring Eli Hano.

Verona Area High School Wildcats BaseballCarson McCorkle drove in the winning run to give the Verona Wildcats JV the lead in the eighth inning, as the Verona Wildcats JV hung on to beat Arrowhead 5-3 on Saturday.

John Coshun walked to get on base in the eighth. He then went from first to second on a single by Gaelan Combs.
The Verona Wildcats JV staved off Arrowhead as Arrowhead was unable to match the Verona Wildcats JV down the stretch.

Arrowhead scored one run in the eighth on an RBI single by #14. Still, Arrowhead couldn’t draw even.

Connor McGowan had two extra-base hits for the Verona Wildcats JV. He doubled in the second and sixth innings and singled in the eighth inning.

Grant Kelliher got the win for the Verona Wildcats JV. He allowed three runs over eight innings. Kelliher struck out nine, walked two and gave up nine hits.

The top of the second saw the Verona Wildcats JV take an early lead, 1-0. McGowan kicked things off for the Verona Wildcats JV with a double. A groundout by McCorkle then moved McGowan from second to third.

With the score tied at two, Combs came to the plate and tripled, scoring Brandon Ellestad.
Combs had a hot bat for the Verona Wildcats JV. Combs went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run.

John Coshun was a workhorse on the mound while bagging the win for the Verona Wildcats JV. Coshun pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs, four hits and one walk while striking out four.

In the top of the first, the Verona Wildcats JV grabbed the early lead, 1-0. Coshun singled, plating Eli Hano after a double by Hano got things started.

Verona Area High School Wildcats BaseballGrassman went 2-3 as the Verona Wildcats JV took home a 5-1 victory over Beloit Memorial in seven innings at 5th Quarter, VLL on Saturday.

He singled in the second and sixth innings.
Jake Lee got the win for the Verona Wildcats JV thanks to seven strikeouts. Lee allowed one earned run on six hits and three walks over seven innings.

Beloit Memorial scored its only run of the game on an RBI single by #23 in the second inning.

The Verona Wildcats JV stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the fourth, scoring two runs on two sacrifice flys.

The Verona Wildcats JV built upon their lead with two runs in the sixth. Gaelan Combs kicked things off with a single, scoring Brandon Ellestad.

The Verona Wildcats JV took the lead in the seventh inning and held on for the victory. The Verona Wildcats JV went up for good on an RBI single by Grant Kelliher off #4, plating Eli Hano.

Carson McCorkle reached base three times in the game for the Verona Wildcats JV. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the first and third innings.

Brandon Ellestad got the win in relief for the Verona Wildcats JV. Ellestad pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed one run.

The bottom of the first saw the Verona Wildcats JV take an early lead, 1-0. Tucker Teskey started the rally for the Verona Wildcats JV with a single. A groundout by Connor McGowan then moved Teskey from first to second.

The Verona Wildcats JV scored three runs of their own in the third. The Verona Wildcats JV scored on a sacrifice fly by Hano, an RBI single by McCorkle, and an error.

West scored one run in the fourth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the seventh. In the fourth, West scored on a fielder’s choice, bringing home #21.

It didn’t take long for the Verona Wildcats JV to respond as they scored three runs of their own in the seventh.

The Verona Wildcats JV finally managed to grab the lead after a strong sixth inning. The Verona Wildcats JV scored on an RBI single by Tucker Teskey off #15, scoring Jake Lee.

The Verona Wildcats JV held off Janesville Parker, as Janesville Parker was unable to overcome a three-run sixth inning deficit.

Janesville Parker scored one run in the seventh on an RBI single by #5. Despite its efforts, Janesville Parker couldn’t finish the comeback.

Gaelan Combs recorded the win for the Verona Wildcats JV even though he allowed six runs over 6 1/3 innings. He struck out seven, walked three and surrendered seven hits.

Eli Hano, Lee and Teskey helped lead the Verona Wildcats JV. They combined for four hits and six RBIs.

The Verona Wildcats JV jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. A single by Carson McCorkle, bringing home John Coshun started the inning off.

The Verona Wildcats JV tied the game in the fourth on a passed ball that scored Teskey.
