Patrick Lewis did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Verona Wildcats Freshman, reaching base three times.

Offense was not hard to come by on on Monday, as both teams combined for 22 runs and 22 hits, including three extra base hits. Both bullpens were busy with seven pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.

The Verona Wildcats Freshman’s Torin Gentile, Jonah Haffner, Lewis and Jake Osiecki combined for six hits and six RBIs.

In the top of the first, the Verona Wildcats Freshman grabbed the early lead, 3-0. Lewis singled to ignite the Verona Wildcats Freshman’s offense. A stolen base then moved Lewis from first to second. The Verona Wildcats Freshman added more runs when Waller scored on an RBI single by Gentile and Gentile scored.

It didn’t take long for Memorial to respond as it scored three runs of its own in the fifth. Memorial scored on a fielder’s choice and an RBI single by #10.

The lead was the Verona Wildcats Freshman’s to lose after seventh inning. More runs came home on a three-run double by Jake Osiecki.
