Verona Area High School Wildcats BaseballThe Verona Wildcats Freshman lost 6-4 in seven innings at West on Friday, despite outhitting West five to four.

Tyler McWilliams led the Verona Wildcats Freshman’s offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He singled in the first and seventh innings.

The top of the first saw the Verona Wildcats Freshman take an early lead, 1-0. The Verona Wildcats Freshman got things going when McWilliams singled. A stolen base then moved McWilliams from first to second. Sam Pederson singled, scoring McWilliams.

West went up for good in the third, scoring three runs on an RBI single by Atley Jacome.

West built upon its lead with two runs in the fourth. Jaden Weiss kicked things off with a triple, bringing home Luke Treiber.

Three runs in the top of the seventh helped the Verona Wildcats Freshman close their deficit to 6-4. A fielder’s choice and a sacrifice fly by Nate Waller fueled the Verona Wildcats Freshman’s comeback. But, Weiss got Connor Grossnickle to ground out to end the game.
